Greg
Music has always been part of Greg’s life. He was a woodwind player in junior high and high school, taking part in marching events and even playing at the 1980 Olympic Torch arrival ceremony. After retiring from a 24+ year career in the U.S. Army, Greg took up bass guitar. Since then, he’s been part of numerous bands in the area. Greg’s concept for Run for Cover is a decade in the making, pursuing like-minded musicians who love to play together.
Joel
Born and raised in Kansas City, MO, Joel was fascinated with the drums since before he can remember. Lessons started at age 10 at Antioch Music. He became a percussionist in band and was on the drum line in middle school, high school, and college. In addition to Run for Cover, Joel has been playing drums at Harmony Vineyard Church since 2010 which is where he met Greg. Being in a band has been a lifelong dream that he is finally able to pursue.
Andre
Music has always been Andre’s passion. He played stringed instruments in elementary school and focused on band along with piano through junior and senior high school. Andre learned anything that would get him another chance to play: from a bass recorder for Shakespeare festival to the bass guitar and bass trombone in jazz bands, and even a D trumpet on a short tour with the Rocky Mountain Symphonie. During his 30 years in the military he maintained a goal of retiring to play with a “bar band”.
Jason
Jason McCord is from Topeka KS, initially playing percussion in the school band. His father played acoustic and classical guitar. Having several guitars in the house, he began playing guitar. Encouraging Jason to play guitar, his parents bought him an electric guitar and amp of his own. After learning a song or two he abandoned the drums and started a band with a few friends from high school. Since then Jason has played in several bands: playing anything from jazz and rock to metal and country.
Paul
Paul is an East Coast boy, born in Annapolis and raised in Baltimore, MD. His parents listened to classical music, opera, and Big Band, and the house was rarely without music. Thanks to older siblings of friends, he also was treated to a steady diet of Beatles, Stones, and Led Zeppelin. Paul joined the Army out of college, and any thoughts of playing in a band had to wait. Twenty-seven years later, he left active service and joined Run for Cover. Paul now lives in Platte City, MO, and has no plans to ever move again.
